Usually couples wait till they are engaged before looking for a wedding photographer, but this groom in question contacted me before he was even engaged to talk about wedding photography! Having sworn me to secrecy about his plans to propose, he promised to be back in touch once he was engaged. The rest they say is history!
The bride arrived in a white Vanden Plas Princess wedding car with a plate entitled ‘Princess’ on the bumper and boy, did she look like a Princess – definitely a tough act for Kate Middleton to follow next week! The bride had a 40s inspired pin curl hairdo with a glamorous Hollywood style fishtailed wedding gown. The theme for the day was silver. After signing the register, the couple exited to their car through a mob of well wishers to spend some time alone at Southwark Park taking photos. After taking some shots with their family they whizzed off to their reception at Bacon’s College.
The reception was dressed in white and silver chair covers with candlebras. Guests enjoyed the wedding breakfast served by waiters from a choice from a set menu. Each guest had a choice of jollof rice, fried rice, plantain, jerk chicken, Southern fried chicken, fish, Nigerian mixed meat, vermicelli with a choice of dessert – fresh fruit from the fruit tree, cheesecake or chocolate gateaux.
Speeches from both the best man and mother of the groom brought the house down, with a demonstration of the groom’s dancing skills (or lack of) by the best man! The wedding cake was a 6 tier sponge castle complete with fountain, monogrammed with the bride and groom’s initials. The castle turrets were made fully of icing (for those of you who wanted to know)!
The bride threw her bouquet, and one lucky lady caught it! So hopefully we’ll see more weddings next year!
