The bride and groom, originally from Australia, decided to elope to South London to get married.
They got ready in the Novotel hotel, just by Greenwich DLR and train station. The groom Skyped his family in Australia who had stayed up late to see him get wed via video link. The bride’s parents had just flown in only a couple of days before along with the bridesmaid. The bride had her make up and vintage hair style done by Lipstick and Curls, whilst her mother ironed her wedding dress. After a few drinks at the local bar, the groom was suited and booted in a Marks and Spencer suit. The bride had made her own bouquet from paper, and had included paper flowers made from a street map to symbolise the time the bride and groom worked and lived in London. The bride’s outfit was completed by a fake fur shawl designed and made by the groom.
Joined by a few select guests and family, the groom travelled to Woolwich Town Hall by hopping in a taxi to Woolwich Arsenal. Cutting a dash through the Saturday shopping crowds, the bride arrived via taxi. The bride and groom had chosen Woolwich Town Hall for its beautiful staircase and who can blame them! South London is the best place to get married – but then I am a little biased being a local girl!
After the short ceremony, the happy couple took photos with their guests on the wonderful marble stairs. The bride and groom then spent some time alone feeding the squirrels in Greenwich Park and taking photos around Greenwich. Unfortunately the squirrels were not tempted by fresh unsalted walnuts!
The bride and groom then went back to The Cutty Sark Pub, in the private Crow’s Nest room, where the speeches began during the interval of the Rubgy World Cup playing on screen. Australia was playing that day of course! The guests were treated to a delicious array of canapés – scotch eggs, chips, wild boar sausage rolls, and an arrangement of meats. The bride’s friend had made the cupcake tower.
The bride and groom are currently enjoying a buddy-moon around Europe travelling with their friends for part of their honeymoon.
Here are a few of my favourite images from the day. Enjoy!
Thanks for putting these up!
