The bride and groom married abroad in Nigeria and celebrated with a reception in the UK for their London based family, friends and inlaws.
The bride and groom got ready in separate rooms whilst their guests arrived downstairs. The bridesmaids wore purple dresses each uniquely designed by each girl. The bridesmaids steamed the bride’s dress, while the bride had the last finishing touches to her makeup. The groom and groomsmen ironed their shirts and put on their matching socks. The groom’s family were also encouraged to attend in purple.
The bride and groom headed downstairs and danced in separately – the groom with his mother and the bride with her father. The couple said their vows and then sat down at their sweetheart table for the two course meal of lamb shank and spicey mash and strawberry cheesecake. Jollof rice and salad was also on offer to the evening guests arriving. Friends from the couple’s church sang and gave speeches. The dance floor was then opened for the first dance where the couple were sprayed with dollars as a symbol of good luck. The children scrambled to collect the money and bag it up for the bride and groom. After the groom serenaded the bride with a song, the couple changed into traditional red and green outfits and joined their guests on the dance floor.
