The bride and groom wanted to have a wedding that celebrated Stoke Newington where they lived. They also wanted to incorporate their love of dogs as well as incorporating elements of Halloween. So they held their wedding breakfast at the Cellars aiming to make their reception to be as relaxed as possible.
The bride got ready at a local Airbnb with her bridesmaids. Each bridesmaid wore a black dress of their choice teamed with a black leather jacket, burgundy red shoes and a flower crown. After a quick dash in a cab, the bride walked down the aisle with both parents. The bride and groom encouraged the guests to join in with an acapella version of ‘Happy Together’ by the Turtles.
After marrying in Stoke Newington Town Hall, the bride and groom quickly took a few photographs with their dogs before riding a double Decker Route master to the pub. Arriving guests were serenaded by a mariachi band. In keeping with their theme, the groom had made the seating plan with skeletons representing each guest and the table names were names of the dogs that they knew. Presiding over the table plan was a gold sprayed skeleton of a pug. A statute of a dog was decorated with a veil, whilst the couple’s names were carved into pumpkins and sprayed on retro fat screen TV. Guest names had been fastened to gold Dracula teeth, and flowers on the tables had old fashioned labels of poison and arsenic.
The guests were served a 3 course meal of pate, beef and dessert and had a three barely naked chocolate tiered cakes with skeleton cake toppers.
Here are some of my favourite images from the day.
