Have you ever wanted to feed squirrels in the park after you get married? Or take a boat ride across the Thames to a reception in a lighthouse? Take photos in a graveyard? Ride the Overground to your reception? Wear Converse with your wedding dress? Have your first dance with music from a live brass band? Ride a Routemaster bus round the London? Have your dogs in attendance at your wedding? Have an engagement shoot in a disused building? Get married in a deconstructed asylum? Take photos in a graveyard? Be serenaded by sea shanties outside? Eat your wedding breakfast al fresco in a flour mill? If so (and all my previous couples have!) then hopefully I am the wedding photographer for you!
Hello, my name is Louisa, and I am a professional wedding and portrait photographer, based in South London. My interest in photography began many moons ago – at the age of 11 – when my mum brought me home a small present of a 126 camera. Many books from the library, cameras and rolls of film later, by the age of 15, I had advanced to shooting with 35mm SLRs. I am now shooting digitally for all my professional work but I still do have a play with a Holga in my spare time!
Why are you called Urban Bridesmaid Photography?
So… the idea of the name came from being asked to be a bridesmaid and photographer at my friends’ weddings in the urban jungle of South London! Being a graduate in English I just loved how these two words just sounded together and voila!
So what’s it like working with Urban Bridesmaid Photography?
I aim to make every experience with Urban Bridesmaid Photography a positive and friendly one. Every client gets a pre wedding consultation (currently via Zoom) to discuss the last running items of the wedding day. I am always contactable via phone or email should you have any queries. My clients have found me easy, fun and mellow to work with and notice my discreetness, hard work and professionalism behind the scenes on their wedding day.
Seeing at family gatherings, that the photo album was the most cherished item evoking conversations and stories about family history and adventures of the past, I decided to incorporate this concept into Urban Bridesmaid Photography. The idea that beautiful wedding photographs that should go beyond just a factual recording of a moment, but captured the true emotions (and history) of the event – is what I nicknamed wedding photographs with personality! I am always aiming to capture images that bring back the magic of their wedding day so that my clients will enjoy looking at time and time again.
My approach to wedding photography is to document the events of the day as they unfold, with a sprinkling of traditional formal group shots (where required) to capture wedding photographs that are warm, fun and relaxed! This means that I shoot what I see – people call this reportage or documentary if you will. This is ideal if you just want your day captured as it happens with minimum intrusion from a wedding photographer and you don’t want to ‘stop your day’ to keep taking set up shots. If you want formal group portraits I do those too, and I encourage you to set aside some time during the wedding day to do so. I understand that some people don’t want this, so I am happy to shoot 100% reportage throughout the day. My focus as a wedding photographer has always been capturing the moments of the day, the happiness and people having fun.
I offer a simple pricing structure – 8 hours of wedding day coverage with high resolution images on a USB. During these… ahem cough… testing times I am offering shorter wedding day coverage subject to Government regulations. I also offer albums so you can start off your own family historical stories and conversations at your family gatherings. Please contact me via the contact page to find out more and enquire about availability.
